The woman circled in red was called Elizabeth Lindsey Lines, who was a first class passenger and survivor of the tragic sinking. She had actually overheard the conversation between Bruce Ismay and Captain Smith, when Ismay pressured Smith to light the last four boilers – making them travel faster – stating that “The press knows the size of Titanic, and now I want to marvel at her speed!”.
A reluctant Smith agreed and later dismissed a second iceberg warning from another ship. Because of this, the ship was going quicker and when the lookouts had finally noticed the iceberg (it took longer as they had a lack of binoculars), the ship was going too quick and they just about caught the iceberg.
We even see Elizabeth turn and face Ismay & Smith for a split second. An incredible and subtle detail that made me appreciate this film much more when I found out.
